First, get a mower that will mulch and catch and forget about the side discharge info. I also think you need one with plenty of raw horsepower and a deep deck that will alllow mulching functions to work properly.

The other thing to consider is that you want to catch the grass sometimes as well. There are times during the lawn cutting season with catching will be appropriate.
